Born on April 25, 1914 in Paipoonge Township, Ontario, Margaret was the eldest child of Lauretta (Edmunds) and Sam McCreery. Margaret was predeceased by her siblings: Rev. Capt. Albert McCreery (1945), Kenneth (Annie) McCreery (1998) and Eva (Wally) Baigent (2001).

Margaret moved to the Ingersoll area at about the age of one, and considered Ingersoll her home, although she lived in Petrolia, North Carolina, Ottawa, Galt (now Cambridge), Mississauga and Kitchener for periods of time.

Margaret lived a simple life focused on God and family. She honoured God through her interest in others and missions. She nourished life-long friendships. Her greatest interest was her family: daughter, Birdena (David Armitage) of Puslinch Township, Ontario; granddaughters Heather Anne (Matt Popovich) of Bradford, Ontario and Melodie (Dan Trempe) of Hong Kong. Margaret loved hearing about her great-grandchildren: Spencer and Kennedy Popovich, and Jenelle and Henry Trempe.

She is survived by a nephew and three nieces by birth: Rob Baigent, Ruth (Arnie Kursiss), Vickie (Ron Thomas) and Pam (Gary McKnight), as well as by many nieces and nephews by marriage. Margaret appreciated a special connection with a family friend, Jonathan Bedford of Waterloo, Ontario.

The family extends our gratitude to the staff at Hilltop who were kind, caring, loving and respectful for the past 4.5 years and facilitated Margaret’s contentedness with life right up until her passing.
